Computers are improving fast

“Realize that Watson is not connected to the internet. It’s a free standing machine just like me, relying only on what it knows.” Can we just talk about how crazy it is that a machine is on the show Jeopardy? I mean I would love to get known and be a guest on a show like this and I cannot seem to break out into stardom yet, but a machine has beat me to it? I know that in previous blogs I have said that we need to be careful of technology surpassing us, but in all honesty it may have already. It’s stated that “computers are better than humans at screening documents for relevance in the discovery phase of Litigation, an activity for which young lawyers used to bill at an impressive hourly rate.” We also have self-driving cars that are being used for Lyft and Uber. So are we not there yet? Think about it.
