5 stages of group development
This article is great in giving us the tools needed to
properly form a business with strong core values. Each step is important.
Forming is obviously important in forming any kind of group with a group leader
to be able to rely on for any situation that may come up. Storming is important
because as the reading states, “Conflict inevitably results in their personal
relations. Individuals have to bend and mold their feelings, ideas, attitudes,
and beliefs to suit the group organization.” This is true with any diverse
group, as we all come from different backgrounds and have different ways of
doing things. Norming is good in understanding and presenting ideas for the
group. Stage four is Performing which is a good way for leaders to see who is
able to work independently and self-assuring. Finally Adjourning comes with the termination
of task behaviors and disengagement from the team. “The most effective
interventions are those that facilitate task and termination and the disengagement
process.
Hi Aresnio,
ReplyDeleteI like your blog post! You make a lot of great points that I hadn't even thought of myself. After reading this article, I related the different stages to my group project. I think it is interesting how you go in further depth regarding the importance of each stage, and how it all leads back to being successful. You give a lot of insight on the 5 stages and show that you truly understand each one of them.
I like how storming was actually one of the main points of this article. I was worried the article would completely ignore the point that ALL groups have conflicts, because this isn't Candyland. Regardless of whether or not a group has the same overall goals, there's going to be so many inner conflicts that are impossible to avoid. Having larger groups of people at all will easily breed conflicts for the smallest reasons.
ReplyDeleteI thought your blog post was well said. You did a great job introducing the topic as well as touching on all the most important parts within the article. I think each step with group development was needed to be presented and discussed in this particular blog post and you did exactly that. I thought this article was very eye opening and gave me a better understanding on how to develop a group properly and efficiently.
